Tulip festival in Ottawa
May 19 2007, After the usual Saturday morning discussion, the herd of cats decided on Ottawa for lunch. Three planes( Jamie in his Malibu Meridian, Atillio and Joe in matching sets of Cirrus SR-22’s) set out with 11 people. 1 hour 20 min’s later we landed in RockCliffe (Jamie got in a bit sooner to prepare for the arrival the Cirrus’s, Thanks Jamie!)
Rockcliffe ( CYRO ) is the airport nearest the heart of our nations capital and one of the most interesting with an aviation museum right on the field. On the way in we flew right past the parliament buildings and were presented with a birds eye view of the tulip festival ( Note: don’t try this unless you are talking to and getting vectors from Ottawa approach / terminal ).
We skipped the museum and went right downtown for lunch. Two vans and a 10 minute ride takes us past the prime ministers residence, the governor generals residence and embassy row. Lunch was at Chateau Laurier, right next to tulip festival and across the Rideau Canal from the parliament buildings.
After attempting to walk our over prices lunch off it was back home by 4 pm…
We have got to get to Ottawa more often!
