Summer is fast approaching! (OK, so this is hopeful thinking...) I would like to get feedback on your interest in the following Fly-in possibilities, plus any others that interest you:
IFR Flyout for VFR Pilots:
BFC has possibly the highest concentration of private IFR pilots anywhere in Canada, but many of our members have never experienced a flight in "The System". This flyout would feature IFR pilots hosting VFR pilot-passengers on an IFR flight to somewhere with an ILS and food. Even members of Billy Lowe's "No IFR" club can come. See what all the fuss is about. Summer date to be decided. Lets hope for some cloudy weather!
I get asked about this all the time...
January 20, 19:00h, Toronto, ON: Transport Canada System Safety Seminar – Raising the Bar (or “I learned about flying from that!”).
Here is a treat featuring our own "Self-proclaimed Safety Officer" Dave Cox at the Transport Canada office at 4900 Yonge Street, 4th floor. (Free refreshments and a logbook sticker for your 2 year currency requirement should help entice you. Bring a story to share! :
Here are some of the planned regularly scheduled events for 2010. The Wednesday night barbeques at St Thomas are not on this list, but I'll let you know as soon as they are confirmed. Email me if you hear of any other regularly scheduled fly-in invitations.
Over The Airwaves
I've discovered http://overtheairwaves.com. This website is absolutely chock full of safety and skill tips, accident reports and newsy bits. It is produced by Bob Miller, a CFII based in Tonawanda, and is also available as an e-newsletter. There is a fresh issue every two weeks.
Really worth a look!
