Airport personnel temporarily boarded up a window and repaired a column after a single-engine Cessna crashed into the west side of a terminal building late Saturday, according to the Davenport Police Department.

The terminal was not open for business at the time.

The incident was reported at 10:22 p.m., and no one was injured. There was considerable damage to both the structure and glass front of the Carver Aero FBO terminal building and the aircraft, according to the news release from police Capt. David Struckman.

Virginia County Assessor Defies Judge's Finding

In a time when declining tax revenues are pinching government budgets, it may be tempting for bureaucrats charged with assessing those taxes to be heroic going after every last penny. One pilot and mechanic in Culpeper County, Virginia holds the tail numbers and data for two antique aircraft which he says were destroyed seven decades ago, and which he hopes to one day rebuild. Commissioner of Revenue Terry Yowell is trying to tax them as tangible property.

Pilot, daughter describe their surreal descent into ocean in Cirrus plane
Elaine McGlaughlin described Saturday as “one of the most exhilarating days of my life.” It was because she had just dodged death.

A doctor and his adult daughter were safe Saturday after the doctor piloting his Cirrus SR22 single-engine prop plane landed in the ocean near the Bahamas. The successful deployment of the plane’s parachute and the pilot’s quick thinking are credited for the safe landing. (U.S. Coast Guard photo)

Single-engine plane makes hard landing in Pasco neighborhood

Single-engine plane makes hard landing in Pasco neighborhood

Kristin Weber

Spring Hill, Florida

It appears the pilot of a single-engine plane mistook a Pasco County neighborhood for a nearby airport landing strip.

According to deputies, the 22-year-old student pilot said his GPS indicated that Citation Road in the Pasco Trails subdivision was a Pilot Country Airport landing strip. The airport is less than three miles from where he actually landed.

His Cirrus SR20 plane hit some mailboxes, small trees and a fence. No one was injured in the landing.
